Abstract
|
| |
We are specifically interested in how previous research investigated
the link between earnings/information quality and cost of equity capital, the relation-
ship between discretionary accruals quality and cost of capital, the market process
that determines cost of capital and allocates risk, and the relation between disclosure
quality and cost of capital. This paper seeks to fill a gap in the current literature by
examining the cost of capital for companies in regulated sectors, the nominal cost of
capital that derives from market interest rates, the growth model of cost of equity,
and the implicit or opportunity cost of capital. |

This paper aims to analyze and discuss the relationship between politics
and administration within the bureaucracy, the sources of bureaucratic power, the
level of politicization of the public bureaucracy, the weaknesses and inefficiencies
of bureaucracy, and the values of formalized bureaucracy. Scholarly research reveals
strong correlations between the political theory of bureaucratic organization, the
structural details of bureaucracy, political control of the bureaucracy, the decision-making environment faced by bureaucrats, and administrative procedures as instruments
of political control of the bureaucracy. |

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine the issue of long memory
stock returns of emerging markets. The study carries out a biased reduced semi-parametric test to detect long memory in mean process. The results suggest no strong
evidence of long memory in mean process of stock returns both in emerging and
developed markets. The results are in contrast with earlier studies, which conclude
that emerging markets in general characterized by long memory process. Hence,
long memory is not a peculiar characteristic of emerging markets but appear to be
stylized fact of asset returns irrespective of stage of development of the market... |

Abstract

Despite the policy realms growing recognition of fiscal devolution in
gender development, there have been relatively few attempts to translate gender
commitments into fiscal commitments. This paper aims to engage in this significant
debate, focusing on the plausibility of incorporating gender into financial devolution,
with the Thirteenth Finance Commission of India as backdrop. Given the disturbing
demographics - the monotonous decline in the juvenile sex ratio, especially in some
of the prosperous states of India - there can be no valid objection to using Finance
Commission transfers for this purpose... |

Abstract
|
| |
The literature on routines in management and organization studies has
witness a tremendous growth in the course of the last 25 years. We review this
literature by conducting a co-citation analysis of 743 documents published by scholars
in academic journals. Our results indicate three distinctive, yet interrelated, schools
of thought which have mainly been advanced in nine core journals: Organization
Theory, Competence Theory and Practice Theory. We outline each of these schools
and discuss how they address micro-foundations of organizational routines... |
