The Malaysian Government has proposed to introduce the Goods and Services Tax [GST] on the 1st January 2007 which will replace the existing sales tax and service tax. While sales tax is levied on goods at the point of import or at the point of the goods manufactured, service tax is imposed on selected services including services provided by professionals.
